Arête Services
about the process:

There comes a point in every athlete’s life when they will no longer compete and it is time to enter into a new phase of life.

The key to transitioning successfully into another profession is through the process of career planning.

Think of career planning as the pathway to discovering the other talents and interests that you have outside of athletic competition.

It is important to know that career planning takes time and commitment.

It is a process of self-discovery that requires the same focus and dedication that you have used in the past to reach your athletic goals.

If one goes at it half heartedly or with many distractions, it is not likely that you will reach the desired destination.

There are three main steps in this process…

The Steps

step 1: self-discovery

Step One is the most important step in the process. Before you can determine which career direction will be best for you, you need to be clear about who you are.

What are your personal preferences? Do you like working with people? if so, how? As a team member, leader, mentor, educator? What types of things excite and fascinate you?

Arête Services offers a combination of online career assessments, questionnaires and virtual communication to help capture your core values and key traits which serve as the foundation for developing your career transition plan.

step 2: exploration

Step Two takes you through the process of researching and evaluating options.

During the career development process, the assessment testing provides each client with the starting point in the process but it is the engagement in active research that leads one toward effective career decision-making.

Our virtual library will provide you with the resources necessary to explore hundreds of different career fields and educational programs.

step 3: planning

Step Three, transition planning, takes into account all of the knowledge gained in steps one and two and filters the information into a concrete plan of action that involves goal setting and plans for next steps.
