Dr. Cheryl Carter founded Arête Services to provide high quality career counseling services to elite and professional athletes. She is the Principal Consultant for Cheryl Carter Consulting, a career counseling and educational consulting firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Dr. Carter brings over 20 years experience advising athletes and organizations. Her expertise covers a wide range of abilities from the administration of career assessments and career transition strategies to educational planning with colleges and universities from across the United States. Her innovative, cutting-edge work with social technologies and immersive virtual environments help in providing a contemporary approach to the counselor-client interaction.

Dr. Carter holds degrees in Psychology, Kinesiology-Sports Psychology, Counseling-Career Development and in Educational Technology. She is a member of the California Career Development Association (CCDA), National Career Development Association (NCDA) and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).

In a past life, Dr. Carter played college tennis, coached college tennis and served as director of athletics.
